Wind signal lifted as 'Kabayan' further weakens

MANILA – The weather bureau on Monday lifted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 hoisted in several areas as Kabayan further weakened into a remnant low as of the 5 p.m. bulletin.

The low-pressure area (LPA) was last spotted in the vicinity of Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, moving northwestward at 25 kph.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA could emerge over the Sulu Sea on Monday night.

'Kabayan' likely to make landfall over DavOr or Surigao Sur

MANILA – Tropical Storm (TS) Kabayan is forecast to make landfall along the coast of Davao Oriental or southern Surigao del Sur on Monday, with several areas now under Signal No. 2, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Kabayan, which was last tracked over the coastal waters of Caraga, Davao Oriental, could also make another landfall over central or southern Palawan on Tuesday, and emerge over the West Philippine Sea.

Warm, humid weather to prevail across PH

Warm and humid weather due to the easterlies will prevail across the country on Monday, a forecaster said.

"Only a few rain showers (due to) localized thunderstorms will be experienced," Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Benison Estareja said.

He added that PAGASA is not seeing any weather disturbance that could enter the country in the next three days.

Up to 33 °C temperature will prevail over Metro Manila, Tuguegarao and Kalayaan Islands.

Easterlies, ‘amihan’ to dampen most of PH

MANILA – The northeast monsoon affecting Northern Luzon, and the easterlies affecting Southern Luzon and the Visayas will bring isolated to scattered rain showers or thunderstorms all over the country, the weather bureau said Wednesday.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

PAGASA monitors 3 weather systems outside PAR

MANILA – The weather bureau said Sunday it monitors three weather systems, including Typhoon Koinu (formerly Jenny), outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

In its 4 a.m. weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Koinu is almost stationary at 725 km. west of extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 155 kph and gustiness of up to 190 kph.

TS Jenny further strengthens, may become typhoon Monday

MANILA – Tropical Storm Jenny has further intensified and may reach typhoon category in the next three days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday.

As of 4 a.m., the weather bureau said the center of Jenny was located 835 kilometers east of Central Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph while moving northwestward at 20 kph.

Jenny is forecast to steadily gather strength and may become a severe tropical storm on Sunday, PAGASA said.

‘Habagat’ to bring isolated rains; 2 LPAs spotted

MANILA – The entire country will continue to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to southwest monsoon or “habagat”, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the weather bureau said Batanes and Babuyan Islands will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
