MP Ahang serves far-flung towns of Tawi-Tawi

BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi — In an effort to reach out to the most vulnerable populace brought about by the COVID-19 global pandemic crisis, Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Member of the Parliament (MP) Abdullah A. Ahang initiated recently a relief operation to the far-flung barangays of this province.

Ahang said at least 1, 500 households from the island barangays of Sibutu and Sitangkai towns were recipient of food packs distributed by his office.

Marines rescue 7 Filipinos illegally recruited for jobs in Malaysia

COTABATO CITY --- The Marines rescued Thursday seven Filipinos who escaped from Sabah, Malaysia where illegal recruiters promised them employment that never came true.

Personnel of the 6th Marine Company under the 6th Marine Battalion immediately turned over Kennetly Samana, 46, Ria Magiente, 34, Novelyn Solis, 34, Jelyn Montong, 25, Ritchie Salon, 39, Kenneth Ortiz, 34, and the 30-year-old Greigie Rinon, to the municipal health office of Taganak municipality in Tawi-Tawi for mandatory COVID-19 screening.

BTA's minority bloc files resolution supporting the Balik Probinsya program

COTABATO CITY - As the Bangsamoro Parliament's session resumes on June 16, the minority bloc filed a resolution expressing the full support of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority for the Balik Probinsya program of the national government. 

4 arrested in Cotabato City, Lanao Sur anti-narc operations

COTABATO CITY --- Four government “high-value targets” fell in separate drug entrapment operations here and in Lanao del Sur Wednesday.

BTA’s Second Regular Session to open on June 16

COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament’s Second Regular Session is set to open on June 16, 2020.

This was agreed by the members of the BTA Parliament during the caucus meeting on Tuesday, June 2 held at the BTA Compound, Bangsamoro Government Center, in Cotabato City.

Speaker Balindong distributes 4,000 KN95 masks to hospitals, RHUs

COTABATO CITY — Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament Speaker Ali Pangalian M. Balindong continues his commitment to assist our frontliners by providing on Saturday, May 30, 2020 KN95 masks to at least two (2) district hospitals and four (4) rural health units (RHUs) in the province of Lanao del Sur.

Balindong said they distributed a total of four thousand (4,000) KN95 masks to Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr. Al-Haj Memorial Hospital, Balindong District Hospital and the RHUs of Kapatagan, Ditsaan-Ramain, Balabagan and Picong.

Officials together dealing with COVID-19 concerns in Basilan

COTABATO CITY --- Officials in Basilan have fused ranks to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Tipo-Tipo town where a residents tested positive to the disease last week.

In a statement Monday, the governor’s office said the mayor of Tipo-Tipo, Arcam Istarul, has placed the entire municipality under enhanced community quarantine, or ECQ, while efforts to trace who the patient may have interfaced with are underway.

Split of Maguindanao into two provinces imminent 

COTABATO CITY --- Maguindanao shall soon be split into two smaller provinces.

Maguindanao 2nd District Rep. Esmael Mangudadatu told reporters Tuesday the House of Representatives has approved on third reading House Bill 6413 that he authored, meant to divide the province into two smaller provinces.

Maguindanao 1st District Rep. Ronnie Sinsuat has also filed a separate parallel bill seeking the creation of Northern and Southern Maguindanao provinces out of the original Maguindanao province that has 36 municipalities.

BARMM provides aid to victims of mortar shelling; justice, a primary concern

COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Government, through its Ministry of Health (MOH), has provided cash assistance to the casualties and affected families of the mortar shelling incident in Datu Saudi Ampatuan in Maguindanao.

MOH Minister Dr. Saffrullah Dipatuan on May 26, gave P50,000.00 cash to the family of the two (2) minors who died during the incident; P30,000.00 each to seven (7) of the victims who are badly injured; and P5,000.00 to each of the nine (9) individuals who sustained minor wounds.

BARMM under MGCQ starting June 1

COTABATO CITY  – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will be placed under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) starting June 1 until June 15, 2020, pursuant to the newly released Resolution No. 41 of the National Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19).

According to BARMM Spokesperson Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo during an interview on Radyo Bangsamoro on Saturday, the decision is the direction of the national government for most regions in the Philippines that are not heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
