Magelco about to complete replacement of poles from Datu Odin to Upi

COTABATO CITY – The Maguindanao Electric Cooperative today reported that the project on replacement of old poles with concrete and steel poles in a 26.2 kilometers stretch to Upi, Maguindanao from its station in Datu Odin Sinsuat is nearing completion.

“As of now, we have erected 239 poles with conductor wires equivalent to 14.36 kilometers,” Engr. Ashary Maongco, Magelco general manager, said in a statement.

Philippine Serpent Eagle released back to the wild in North Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A juvenile Philippine Serpent Eagle (Spilornis holospilus) which was recently rescued in Magpet, Cotabato Province finally returned to its natural habitat pn September 15, after it was released by environment officials in the area.

Ecosystem Management Specialist (EMS) Rosie R. Camiguing, protected area and wildlife unit head of the Matalam Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), said that the wild bird was found weak and struggling to fly by Nino V. Alquizar, a concerned citizen from Barangay Sibawanin in Magpet town on September 13.

Flashfloods destroy homes in Sultan Kudarat coastal town; 2 persons missing

COTABATO CITY  – A freak phenomenon hit coastal villages of Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat on Tuesday that destroyed at least 25 homes, damaged a bridge and left a 12-year-old girl and a 61-year-old grandmother missing, officials said.

“The flashfloods occurred during high tide so flood water and sea water met that destroyed homes,” Palimbang Mayor Teng Kapinan said in a phone interview.

He said heavy downpour occurred Tuesday afternoon until evening, triggering landslides in the villages of Langili and Medol.

Cotabato City’s Covid-19 tally rises by 11 to 143

COTABATO CITY – The city has recorded 11 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases and six recoveries as of Tuesday, the regional health office said.

“The youngest recovery patient from Cotabato City is a two-year-old female while the oldest is a 63-year-old male,” Arjohn Gangoso, speaking for the Department of Health – Region 12 (Soccsksargen), said.

The city now has 143 cases, with 54 recoveries for a 38 percent recovery rate and one death since March this year.

MCWD to impose more measures to help contain COVID-19 spread

COTABATO CITY - The Metro Cotabato Water District has announced that more safety measures will be imposed at its main office to help stop the spread of coronavirus in the city.

In a statement, the MCWD said only 1,000 paying concessionaires will be catered in a day starting Wednesday. No penalty will be imposed if bills are not paid on time. No disconnection for non-payment will be applied.
