Cop linked to Maguindanao massacre yields

COTABATO CITY  – A police officer linked to the Maguindanao massacre voluntarily surrendered to police authorities in Maguindanao after more than 10 years of hiding.

Police officer 1 Ysmael Baraguir of Maguindanao provincial police office was fetched from his village by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-BARMM).

NGO feeds children in poor Kabacan village

NORTH COTABATO --- More than 200 children from impoverished Muslim communities in Barangay Cuyapon in Kabacan, North Cotabato benefited from a feeding activity early this week of the Moro People's Community Organization for Reform and Empowerment.

The program was a joint initiative of the Moro PCORE, the barangay government of Cuyapon and the office of Provincial Board Member Jonathan Tabara.

The feeding activity was also supported by local officials, according to facilitators.

Davao region execs donate aid to NoCot for quake victims

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Compostela PDRRM and Governor Edwin Jubahib of Davao Del Norte visits Cotabato Provincial Capitol today to support the recovery program of Governor Nancy Catamco. A total of 3.7 M was turned over to her administration from Compostela Valley or Davao De Oro and Davao Del Norte to be forwarded to LGU hardly hit by earthquake.

Guv to Makilala LGU: Speed up submission of data to national gov't for NoCot rehab programs

MAKILALA, North Cotabato – North Cotabato Gov. Nancy Catamco on Tuesday has urged officials of the local government of Makilala to fast tract the submission of documentary requirements being sought by national government agencies so the necessary assistance will be sent as soon as possible.

After learning that the local government of Makilala is yet to complete the data and requirements, Catamco who chairs the Porvincial Task Force on rehabilitation, met with Makilala local officials.

Koronadal ex-barangay councilman arrestado sa anti-drug ops

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato - Kinilala ng Koronadal City PNP na pinamumunuan ni Police Lieutenant Colonel Joefel Siason ang inaresto na si dating Saravia, Barangay Kagawad Lyton Brillo Mariano, 41 years old.

Nakuha ng mga otoridad mula kay Mariano ang dalawang pakete ng pinaghihinalaang shabu na nagkakahalaga ng mahigit four thousand pesos.

Nakumpiska din sa kanya ang drug paraphernalia at limang daang pisong marked money na ginamit umano ng mga otoridad sa kanilang drug buy bust operation sa nasabing barangay.

2 more large-scale shabu dealers arrested

COTABATO CITY --- Authorities arrested in separate operations Monday two wanted drug traffickers peddling shabu in large volumes via distributors in Sarangani province and in General Santos City.

The first to fall was Benhar Nahasuan,  cornered by combined agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12 and the Regional Police Office-12 in Barangay Sapi Masla in Malapatan, Sarangani.

Another drug dealer, Rodolfo Algarme, was nabbed several hours later in Glan town in the same province.

DSWD-12 completes P105-M worth of schools for IPs in Region 12

KORONADAL CITY---The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has completed at least P105 million worth of school buildings intended for Indigenous Peoples (IP) across Central Mindanao region last year, the agency head reported Friday.

Total deployment ban on OFWs to Kuwait stands: DOLE

MANILA -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Thursday the total ban on the deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to Kuwait will stay until certain conditions set by the Philippines are met by the Kuwaiti government.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said the deployment ban is lifted once the country gets justice for the death of Jeanelyn Pardenal Villavende, as well as an approved consensus on the standard employment contract of household service workers (HSWs).

Police still sifting through bloody Cotabato gun fight

COTABATO CITY --- Investigators are still trying to put closure to Wednesday's gunfight in the city that left a gunman dead and injured three others. 

Police investigators identified the fatality as Asraf Bajunaid, 50, who died from multiple bullet wounds inside a car with a suspicious Philippine National Police commemorative plate.

He and his companions reportedly figured in a gunfight with a motorcycle rider named Johnity Sapal Kubato and his companions in Rajah Tabunaway Street here.

Cotabato Light announces power interruption for Jan 18

COTABATO CITY - To facilitate upgrading of power lines in Barangay Tamontaka, the Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) is announcing power interruption in portions of Barangays Tamontaka Mohter, and Tamontaka 1-5 on Saturday.

The interruption will start from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.
