2 killed, 10 hurt in separate highway mishaps in N. Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY – A series of highway mishaps in North Cotabato left two motorists
killed and 10 others injured over the weekend and Monday dawn.

The incidents
transpired separately in Kidapawan City and Makilala, North Cotabato.

Moving on
opposite direction at past 1 a.m. today, two motorcycles collided along the
Kidapawan-Ilomavis tourist road in Barangay Sudapen, Kidapawan City that killed
Chin Lee Galvez Treyes, 18, resident of Samonte Subdivision, this city and Mosatar
Dela Cerna, 29, of Barangay Kibia, Matalam, North Cotabato, according to Supt. Ramel
Hojilla.

Due to the
impact, Treyes died on the spot while Dela Cerna died in the hospital, Hojilla said in an interview over DXND-AM Radyo Bida Kidapawan.

In similar
accident on Saturday noon, two motorists were critically injured after their motorbikes
collided along the national highway in Barangay Poblacion, Makilala, North
Cotabato, according to Makilala municipal police traffic office.

Injured in the
accident were Antonio Feria Gajeton, 51, of Barangay Bulakanon, Makilala, North
Cotabato and Army Corporal Arnel Badana Pecana, 40, of Mlang, North Cotabato.
Both are now recuperating at a hospital in Poblacion Makilala.

Also on
Saturday, eight persons were hurt when two Toyota Hi-Ace passengers vans
collided in Barangay Binoligan, Kidapawan City.

Supt. Hojilla
said the van collision occurred at about 8:50 p.m. involving a van (LGY-435) driven
Alan Rex Serapion, 36, of Kabacan, North Cotabato and another van driven by
Bhong Takbir, 46, of Datu Paglas, Maguindanao. Both drivers and six passengers
were injured.
