2nd bomb scare hits Mlang, North Cotabato
MLANG, North Cotabato -- Another suspected improvised explosive device was found along the national highway here and safely deactivated by bomb experts Monday morning, the second since Sunday.DXND Radyo Bida in Kidapawan City reported that the IED was left unattended in front fo Arcylyn Store along the national highway, Purok Maharlika, Barangay Bagontapay about 10:30 a.m.The Mlang PNP reported that passersby noticed the black bag in front of the store and quickly alerted the police.Police and military bomb experts disrupted the suspected bomb.It was composed of a mobile phone, a canister wrapped with electrical tape and contained cut nails, broken bottles, and bullets for M-14 and M-16 Armalite rifles.On Sunday at about 1 p.m., a suspected IED was found in front of a store along Magsaysay Avenue, also in Mlang.It was deactivated by bomb experts.Mlang Mayor Russel Abonado said the supposed IED was made of a mobile phone, black powder broken bottles, cut nails and other bomb components placed in a pink shoulder bag. Abonado believed it was aimed at sowing fear by still unidentified group.Mlang had just celebrated its foundation anniversary last week.Photo below show authorities gather around the suspected IED after it was disrupted.
