3 cops die in 3 vehicle-smash up in Polomolok, South Cotabato
POLOMOLOK,
South Cotabato – Three non-commissioned police officers were killed
in a vehicular accident involving three vehicles along the national highway in
Barangay Silay 8 here Monday morning.
Supt. Barney
Condes, Koronadal City police director, said the three police officers and the
police trainee had just finished schooling course at the Police Regional Office
12 in Gen. Santos City and were heading to Koronadal when the accident happened
at 11:50 a.m. in Crossing Matin-ao, Barangay Silay 8, Polomolok.
Senior Supt. Franklin
Alvero, South Cotabato police provincial director, identified the slain
policemen as SPO2 Arnel Jalis, SPO2 Romar Vistavilla, all assigned in Koronadal
City and SPO2 Henry Baliao of Tupi PNP. They were field training officers of
PRO-12.
At least 20
other police trainees on board the dump truck and passengers of Hi-Ace van were
injured.
Involved in the
highway mishap were Honda Fit sedan (temporary license plate 122608) driven by
SPO2 Vistavilla, a dump truck owned by the Koronadal City government loaded by
police trainees, both heading to Koronadal City and Toyota Hi-Ace passenger van
bound for Gen. Santos.
Initial
investigation showed the Honda Fit overtook the dump truck but was hit on its
side, forcing the sedan to skid toward the opposing lane and hit the oncoming
passenger van.
The injured are now
getting treatment at Mindanao Medical Center in Gen. Santos City, Polomolok
