Agripreneurs, DA-12 export carabao mango to Dubai
GEN. SANTOS CITY -Department of Agriculture 12 facilitated todaythe trial shipment of mangoes to Dubai at General Santos International Airport, General Santos City. Through the agency’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), one ton of carabao mango is expected to land Dubai early morning of December 2, 2015.The product was from Tulunan, North Cotabato owned by Rickson Olimpus and other members of the Region 12 Mango Industry Development Council.In an interview Olimpus remarked, We are confident that our buyer in Dubai will like our carabao mangoes.” I think we already built the trust with each other, because we only sent photos (of our carabao mangoes) and they immediately decided to import our product.” he added.The farmer from Tulunan also expressed his appreciation to DA 12 and to Regional Executive Director Amalia Jayag-Datukan for always guiding small-time farmers in finding big buyers not just in the country but also abroad.Director Datukan expressed that this endeavor is a testament that the agency is keen in paving opportunities to farmers of SOCCSKSARGEN, even in the global market, and helping them think and act like a true agripreneur .The AMAD confirmed that the trial shipment was a result of the participation of DA 12, together with SOCCSKSARGEN farmers, in the Middle East Natural and Organic Products Expo, early this November.
