All is set for Koronadal International Folklore festival
KORONADAL CITY - Mayor Peter Miguel today announced that the international event this city is hosting starting August 8 is ready and prepared.And he was wuick to add thatthe withdrawal of some of the country-participants to the Koronadal City International Folklore Festival this month won't affect the international event of the Confederation of International Organizations of Festival and Folk Arts (CIOFFA).Miguel, speaking over DXOM-AM Radyo Bida Koronadal, said the participants from Armenia, Thailand and India, who earlier confirmed participation for the August 9-18 festival, informed his office they could not make it to the event, dubbed as Pyesta Kolondatal. Personal reasons, financial and problems in securing plane ticket hounded the representatives from the three countries, Miguel said.In its place, Miguel said five more local groups have joined the event.Confirmed participants are coming fromSlovenia, Russia, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Turkey, Poland, Japan, Indonesia and Chinese Taipei.Each groups consists of 20 to 25 dancers.Miguel appealed to the people of South Cotabato and those from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to witness the international event.
