AMIN, Basilan gov’t provides hospital with power facility
BASILAN --- The Anak Mindanao (AMIN) Party-list and the provincial government provided this week with standby power generator the district hospital in Lamitan City.
Lamitan City is the capital of Basilan, a component province of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The hospital is in need of the power generating set to keep medical services going during outages.
The office of Basilan Gov. Jim Salliman provided technical assistance and hardware supplies needed in setting up the power-generating unit while AMIN gave the hospital a motor-driven generator.
While Basilan’s two cities, Lamitan and Isabela, and its 11 towns have markedly been progressing owing to the fragile peace now spreading around, local executives are struggling yet to solve the power woes besetting the local communities.
The independent Basilan Electric Cooperative is still trying to energize the entire province.
Local officials said the now second-termer Salliman, who got to the helm of the province only in 2016, just inherited the problem from previous provincial leaders.
He has since been trying to connect to national agencies for possible assistance.
