GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Another commercial airline is planning to expand soon its air cargo and passenger operations here.

Leonard Flores, head of the City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office, said Friday the Pan-Pacific Airlines has signified to include the city international airport in its growing logistics air route.

He said top executives of Pan-Pacific, led by its Chief Operating Officer and President Arturo Alejandrino, disclosed the move in a visit here on Thursday.

Flores said the airline is positioning itself as an additional player here in logistic operations, particularly for cargo and eventually for commercial passenger flights.

“These opportunities will surely help in expanding trade, tourism and investment development in our city and the Socsksargen region,” he said in a report.

Airline officials met with representatives from the city government, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, concerned agencies, and other local stakeholders to discuss its upcoming operations in the area.

It was joined by representatives from the Socsksargen Federation of Fishing and Allied Industries, Inc., Philippine Exporters Confederation, Sarangani-General Santos Shrimp Stakeholders Association, City Tourism Council, General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the South Cotabato Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

Pan Pacific Airlines is a full-service airline that operates through its main hubs in Kalibo International Airport, Mactan–Cebu International Airport, and Clark International Airport.

It has flights from its hubs to Chengdu, Wuhan, and Zhengzhou in China and Busan, Muan, and Seoul in South Korea.

The city international airport currently caters to cargo and passenger flights of the Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and Air Asia.

The air cargo from the area is mainly composed of asparagus, assorted vegetables, fruits, prawns, tuna, and other fish as well as seafood products. (PNA)
