ARMM improves Lanao del Sur 1st DEO in Marawi City
LANAO DEL SUR --- The First District Engineering Office (1stDEO) in Lanao del Sur province now has an expanded operations center accessible to the local communities.Engineer Don Loong, regional public works secretary of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), on Saturday said the facility was launched last February 23.Loong said the newly-improved Lanao del Sur 1stDEO has since been functioning efficiently as a conduit of local government units to the ARMM government.Lanao del Sur is a component province of ARMM, which also covers Maguindanao, located in central Mindanao, and the scattered islands of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.The new Lanao del Sur 1stDEO is located in Matampay area in Marawi City, the seat of the provincial government.Besides its main building, the engineering office also has a P5 million worth staff house now which can accommodate visiting state auditors and engineers from the Department of Public Works and Highways-ARMM in Cotabato City.Engineer Luvizminda Sani, chief of the Lanao del Sur 1stDEO, said their new staff house is a two-storey building which has three bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen.In an emailed statement, Lanao del Sur Gov. Bedjoria Soraya Alonto-Adiong said she is thankful to Loong and Sani for improving the operations center of the 1stDEO in the province.The office of ARMM Gov. Mujiv Hataman, which has ministerial control over the region’s public works department, has more than a billion worth of current projects in the first district of Lanao del Sur alone.The province covers 36 towns divided into two congressional districts.
