Army division IG named Task Force Kutawato chief
COTABATO CITY – An Army colonel has been named as the new chief of the military-led Joint Task Force Kutawato (JTFK).
Major Gen. Diosdado Carreon, commander of the 6th Infantry Division, presided over the turnover of command Friday morning at the JTFK headquasrters, PD Hill, Cotabato City where Colonel Joel Abregana replaced Colonel Jose Narciso.
Colonel Narciso was named new commander of the Army’s 601st Infantry Brigade based in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao.
Abregana is the concurrent Inspector General of the 6th ID.
Abregana as task force commander has over-all supervision in the security of Cotabato City and its immediate environs.
In ensuring safety of every Cotabatenio, Abregana said he needs the support of everybody in the city "for the military cannot do it alone."
He appealed to all law enforcement units, village officials and the private sector to join the military in preventing terrorism and petty crimes happening in the city.
“Help your armed forces and the police,” Abregana said.
Maj. Gen. Carreon also urged the public to be vigilant at all times and cooperate with law enforcers.
"To our new JTF Kutawato Commander, Col. Joel Abregana, welcome to Cotabato City. To its former commander, Col. Jose Narciso, thank you for all the assistance that you have extended to our city when it comes to securing our citizens and congratulations for being the new commander of the 601st Brigade," said Cotabato City Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi.
"As our new 6th ID Commander, MGen. Diosdado Carreon commits to continue their support to our peacekeeping efforts, I also reiterate to our citizens that peace is everybody's concern. We will never attain lasting peace by pointing our fingers," she added.
Guiani-Sayadi stressed that "peace can only be attained with the cooperation and support of each other to one another."
