Army found guns kept inside CR in Maguindanao
CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao
– Government forces conducting combat clearing operations in Datu Piang,
Maguindanao on Thursday discovered high powered firearms kept in an unexpected
place – vacant comfort room.
Maj. Gen.
Cirilito Sobejana, the commander of the 6th Infantry Division, said
members of 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion found the high powered firearms at
about 7:30 in the morning inside the comfort room at the back of barangay hall
of Buayan, Datu Piang, Maguindanao.
Datu Piang is
one of the communities where the outlawed and IS-linked Bangsamoro Islamic
Freedom Fighters (BIFF) operate.
Sobejana, also
chief of Joint Task Force Central, said the guns included one M653 carbine, one
M653 carbine COLT AR-15, one M203 40MM GL, one cal .45 pistol, one cal .38
pistol and assorted magazines and ammunition.
Concerned
civilians reported to the military about the presence of BIFF members near
Barangay Buayan village hall.
Members of the
1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion wasted no time and quickly but
carefully responded to the report.
No more BIFF
members were around when the soldiers started clearing operations.
The timely
and accurate information provided by the concern civilians led to the recovery
of said valuable war materials, Sobejana said, recognizing the community
support in the fight against lawlessness and terrorism in Datu Piang and
adjacent communities.

sustain our commitment to ensure the safety and security of the people in
Central Mindanao against the BIFF who sow terror and create fear in the
