Bomb experts recover grenades Gaisano Grand Mall in Kidapawan
KIDAPAWAN CITY – Workers of a mall here found
suspicious paper bag left unattended near the entrance-exit door for employees
of Gaisano Grand mall-Kidapawan on Monday night, hours after a suspected improvised
bomb was found in Mlang, North Cotabato.
In a report to Senior Supt. Maximo Layugan, OIC
police provincial director, Supt. Ramel Hojilla, acting Kidapawan City police
director, said bomb experts recovered a live rifle grenade and MK-2 hand grenade wrapped in a white
cloth and put inside a paper bag.
The bag was discovered by mall security officer Alwente
Tabosares at 7:30 p.m. He quickly alerted the police of his discovery.
Police and Army bomb experts, using K-9 bomb
sniffing dogs, safely recovered the explosives.
A bomb expert said the ordnance had no triggering
device and will not explode. It may have been left there by couriers due to the
presence of lawmen in the area.
No one has claimed responsibility and ownership of
the explosives.
About six hours earlier, authorities found what it
said as hoax improvised bombs left unattended in front of a store in Barangay
Bagontapay, Mlang, North Cotabato.
That IED, similar to
the one found and deactivated in Barangay Poblacion Mlang on Sunday, had
complete bomb components except a triggering device and main charge that led
authorities to describe it as a hoax.
