Cooking, poster making contests highlight nutrition month culmination program

KORONADAL CITY -- A cooking team from the Department of Health in Region 12, a representative from Department of Agriculture 12 and Barangay Nutrition Scholars from South Cotabato bested other participants in a series of competitions that highlighted this year's celebration of nutrition month.

During the opening program, Arceli Latonio, regional nutrition coordinator announced that South Cotabato has recorded the lowest malnutrition rate in recent years.  

"Thanks to the frontliners, the barangay nutrition scholars as well as all the stakeholders," she said during 43rd Nutrition Month Celebration culmination program.

A cooking team from the DOH-12 bested other teams in the culminating program on the spot cooking contest. PhilHealth 12 came in second and third went to Department of Budget and Management.

Participants to the culminating program were treated with the food prepared during the cooking contest.

A pupil from Sultan Kudarat won the on the spot poster making contest.

A representative from DA-12 was declared winner in the Nutri-Quiz.  A Department of Trade 12 representative came in second.

The BNS of South Cotabato was chosen as winner in the Sing and Dance show followed by Koronadal City BNS dancers.

Latonio appealed to all mothers to always provide their children daily with nutritious food and make it a way of life.

"The fight against malnutrition should not be only during nutrition month but a daily activity," she added.

This year's theme is “Healthy Diet, Gawing Habit for Life.”
