Cops eye 'rido' in murder of Lanao Sur town councilor
COTABATO CITY – Police are looking at family feud as the motive in the murder of a town councilor in Malabang, Lanao del Sur on Friday.
Captain Karl Vince Centinaje, Malabang municipal police chief, said the murder of Councilor Aksara Marohomsalic Balindong at 5 p.m. could be traced to a “rido” (family feud).
But Centinaje said police investigators are also looking at other possible motive.
Balindong, village chairperson of Barangay Campo Muslim, sits as ex-officio member of the Malabang Sangguniang Bayan since he was the president of the town’s Association of Barangay Chairpersons (ABC).
Balindong was walking near a money changer shop in downtown Malabang when attacked. He died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Responding police found empty shells for 9mm pistol at the crime scene.
Investigation continues.
