Cotabato mayor named 2017 top ten `movers’ in the country
COTABATO CITY -- The newcomer mayor here was named as one of the country’s Top 10Movers of the Philippines Champion of Life, Heroes of the Environment Awardsfor 2017.Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi is barely four months in the city's mayoral post, which she assumed, being Cotabato City’s vice mayor, after the demise in September 2016 of his older brother, Mayor Japal Guiani, Jr.Halima Satol Ibrahim, city information officer, on Monday said the mayor was chosen by the Save Me Movement as one of the top ten movers in the Philippines for governance and public service. She also led the arrest of dozens of drug peddlers in nighttime law enforcement operations that started in July last year.The mayor has also been active in promoting solidarity among the city’s Muslim, Christian and Lumad residents.The yearly selection of the country’s top ten movers by the Save Me Movement is part of the entity’s champions of life and environment awards. The city’s information office said the venue for the awarding rite shall be announced later.
