ISABELA CITY --- The Sangguniang Panglungsod is now deliberating on the proposed creation of three entities to boost the public service thrusts of the city government.

Also being deliberated for the SP’s imprimatur is the “freedom of information,” or FOI ordinance for domestic application.

The Isabela City SP is chaired by Vice Mayor Kifli Salliman, its presiding officer.

In a statement Wednesday, the SP said the proposals --- creation of a city information office, the culture and arts board, and the city legal office --- have been through first reading owing to the good attendance of council members in sessions since early this month.

Also being deliberated for SP’s imprimatur, already approved on first reading, is the FOI ordinance.

Salliman, an engineer, and Isabela City’s new mayor, Sitti Djalia-Turabin, a former Anak Mindanao Party-list representative, were running mates during the May 13 local elections.

The four ordinances were recommended by Turabin-Hataman to hasten governance in the city, beset for so long with so many community concerns, peace and security issues and underdevelopment.

Legislative works of the previous city council were stymied with lack of quorum by SP members, many of them habitually absent from office.

Salliman was quoted in the press statement from his office as saying he is thankful to his constituent-councilors for actively participating in the activities of the Isabela City SP.
