DA-PRDP convenes local leaders in Region 12

TUPI, South Cotabato- The Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project
(DA-PRDP) expects for a stronger partnership with local government units (LGUs)
in Region 12 after a complementation forum with local chief executives (LCEs)
was conducted on March 28, 2017.
The forum was
facilitated by the Project Support Office-Mindanao (PSO-Mindanao) and the
Regional Project Coordinating Office 12 (RPCO 12) and was joined by LCEs from
different parts of SOCCSKSARGEN and representatives from the provincial, city,
and municipal planning, monitoring and implementing units (MPIU).
It was the last leg
of the Regional Forums with LGUs in the six regions in Mindanao.
This conference
aims to remind you (LGUs) of the fast tracking of the disbursement of funds
under PRDP and ask from you recommendations to improve our implementation like
what we have accomplished during the time of MRDP (Mindanao Rural Development
Project), Araceli Morano, PSO-Mindanao deputy project director, said.
The meeting resulted
to the recommendations of LGU counterparts in the implementation of PRDP
subprojects and as well as paved the way for them to clarify on governing
policies.
Some of the
suggestions coined were the monthly forum between the DA-PRDP and LGUs frequent
involvement of PPMIUs in all undertakings of the project and require the MPMIUs
to meet them thereafter a Mindanao-wide forum for PRDP to be joined by LCEs in
the island together with Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol.
LGUs were also
recapped of the importance of the compliance of all documents to avoid dilemmas
in the payment and secure a smooth implementation of the project.
Moreover, it was clarified to them that under PRDP set-up,
the entry point is the provincial local government unit (PLGU). If the province
will waive their right as the Procuring Entity, the municipal local government
unit (MLGU) can implement thru a sub-memorandum of agreement with the PLGU.
LCEs appreciated the
initiators of the activity because they were retooled of the PRDP. One of them
was Mayor Ramon Abalos of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat.

thank this meeting because mayors were invited. I have been waiting for this
meeting and even with other schedules, I see to it that I can attend today…
