DENR-12 now ready for dep't challenges under new leadership

KORONADAL CITY - The Department of Environment and
Natural Resources (DENR) Region XII welcomes new developments and mechanisms in
terms of environmental management. This is to ensure sustainability in
implementing the programs and projects of the department. The meaningful presentation of the new
administration's guiding environmental principles and practices was made
clearer during the recently concluded
3rd Regional Management Conference last august 18 until August 19, 2016
this city.

Attended by more or less 80 senior officials coming from the regional
and field offices, the conference was presided over by DENR Regional Director
Datu Tungko M.Saikol. I am
doubly elated while leading this forum due to the presence of two of our
highest officials namely Undersecretary Joselin Marcus E. Fragada and
Assistant Secretary Marcial C. Amaro both for Field Operations
-Mindanao, Saikol said.

In
his message, Usec. Fragada expounded both the leadership
and management style of the new DENR Secretary Gina Lopez. He said that
Secretary Lopez upholds good governance having a zero-tolerance for corruption
which means it is non-negotiable to herandalso promotes the work ethics of utmost honesty and transparency.

Under the new administration Sec.
Lopez underscored the need to have good and effective working relationship with
the civil society, the non-government organizations, private sectors and other
government agencies, Fragada added.

Fragada stressed that this time we have to touch-base with our
partnersand to showcase the convergence
approach in developing the environment.

Asec. Amaro, meanwhile,pointed out that his
partnership with Usec. Fragada is such a gargantuan task because there are yet
important and critical matters to resolve likeplans and programs to be modified.
We have to promote social justice not merely for parties to engage in
business as in past administration but
now to work out in improving people's
living conditions in the areas where they live, Amaro said. We must have to intensify our agro-forestry, thus ensuringthat enterprise developmentis a priority for economic and social empowerment.The agency has to capacitate the stakeholders
towards social entrepreneurship, Amaro added.

Meantime, other marching orders as pronounced by the two high ranking
DENR officials were given as followsand ecosystems integrity, social justice,
economic enterprise and good governance among others. The participation of civil society and convergence initiative
should be on board, Amaro stressed.

Other presentersof related forum
were Regional Directors of Environmental Management Bureau Socorro Lanto and Mines and Geosciences Bureau
Constancio Paye Jr. respectively.
On
the part of DENR XII, the entire bureaucracy is now bracing and all set to
deliver its tasks and commitments to protect and conserve the protection of the
environment in the Mindanao island.

Mindanao is considered to be the haven of President Rodrigo Duterte.
We will have a very different Mindanao because the President comes from
Mindanao , Secretary Lopez was quoted as saying in anews report.
