Diocesan clergy, ex-seminarians gather at NDAS
Another milestone in the history of the Notre Dame Archdiocesan Seminary is set on November 29-30, 2014 when all its alumni will gather in an event dubbed as DayoTayo” Alumni Homecoming 2014 at Barangay Rebuken, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.Series of activities have been lined up to highlight the gathering. One of the main concerns to be adopted during the meeting proper is the preparation of resolutions that willenable the alumni to help in terms of seminary needs. There will also be an opportunity for fellowship and reminiscing of the seminary life which will eventually become a source of inspiration for the seminarians and those who have been part of the seminary formation. An input on The role of the laity in the church especially in the field of education” will be presented by Mr. Nestor J. Lemana, Sr., former Executive Director of the Notre Dame Educational Association. The Holy Eucharist will be presided by Cotabato Auxiliary Bishop Jose Colin M. Bagaforo, DD, also an alumnus of the seminary. The evening will be devoted to a showcase of talents by Davao Performers, Dumaki Band and the Dayo Band and Movers. It could be recalled that during the Grand Alumni Homecoming (NDAS at 50 years) held in 2010, there were already 1,068 NDAS Alumni. Out of the total number of alumni, ninety-three (93) were ordained to priesthood while two (2) became Bishops, Cotabato Auxiliary Bishop Jose Colin M. Bagaforo, DD and Zamboanga Archbishop Romulo dela Cruz, DD.To date, more alumni members have been added to the list and more priests had already been ordained. The current NDAS Rector, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Torreto, DCC has high hopes that this gathering will merit more support for Christian Vocation in whatever shape it takes. (Rachel F. Ayupan, Archdiocese of Cotabato)
