Farmers demanding rice rally in front of DA-12 in Koronadal

a busy GenSan drive here to demand rice from the Department of Agriculture in what
appeared to be a Kidapawan experience unfolding here.
Protesters, numbering
from 1,500 to 2,000, have assembled in front of a bus terminal here Thursday,
slept overnight at the roadside and moved by bus to Barangay Carpenter Hills Regional
Center where the DA-12 office is located.
Police patrol
cars with police personnel positioned in front and back of the NFA regional
office compound here. Road blocks with
barbed wires were placed at the warehouse main entrance.

Anak-Pawis regional chair, assured the rally will be peaceful and the Kidapawan
experience will not happen here. Farmers with their children in tow arrived by batches on board buses and hauler trucks.
At least two farmers
were killed in a farmers’ protest in Kidapawan City which turned bloody on
