Good news greet Cotabato City as it turns 60
COTABATO CITY – This city celebrated today its 60th foundation anniversary as chartered city with three good news.
First, it is celebrating its diamond jubilee, second, it is one of the top 4 most competitive cities in Mindanao, coming next to Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Tagum cities, and that the Sangguniang Panglungsod received the Philippine Councilors League (PCL), Local Legislative Awards 2018.
“Cotabateños, as we celebrate our beloved city’s Araw ng Cotabato, another prestigious award has been bestowed on us! We have been recognized as one of the national finalists of the Local Legislative Award,” Cotabato City Vice Mayor Graham Nazer Guiani-Dumama said.
The city council was adjudged as Regional Winner (Region 12) and now one of the national finalists for the Best Sangguniang Panglunsod in the entire country for the Independent Component City category.
“Today, Cotabato City has made a significant mark in the history of our country and we commemorate this by being together and having a great time with each other!” said Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi.
Sen. Sherwin Gathalian was the guest of honor and speaker during culminating activities Thursday morning.
“I laud the people of Cotabato City, headed by Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi for all the achievements you have here, peace and order has greatly improved, your local economy is rising, you are on the right tract,” Gathalian said.
