Govt' forces clash with heavily armed men in N. Cotabato guns, shabu seized

North Cotabato – Government forces conducting law enforcement
operation against illegal drug personalities clashed with a heavily armed men
Thursday.
Supt. Romeo
Galgo Jr, speaking for Central Mindanao police, said high powered guns, including
barret rifle and prohibited drugs were seized during the operation in Barangay
Buricain, Pigcawayan, North Cotabato at 9:20 a.m.
In his report,
Senior Supt. Emmanuel Peralta, North Cotabato police chief, said joint police
and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were to serve
search warrants against lawless elements engaged in illegal drugs in North
Cotabato.
Government troops
were fired upon by the armed men as we enter the village of Buricain, Peralta
said in his report to Chief Supt. Cedrick Train, police director for Central
Mindanao.
Police and
soldiers, led by Capt. Jorge Panaguiton, engaged the gunmen in a 15 minute
firefight until suspects fled to different directions by joining fleeing
residents.
Peralta could
not say as of posting if the armed men suffered casualties.
But he said
government forces recovered 17 sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride estimated
to be more than P1 million, a cash worth P250,000, three M-14 rifles, one M-16
rifle, one cal. 50 sniper barret rifle and one shotgun with ammunition.
Galgo said
