Gunman kills Maguindanao town administrator
COTABATO CITY, (Aug. 30/NDBC) -- An unidentified gunman shot dead Friday afternoon the municipal administrator of a Maguindanao town, police said today. Speaking over DXMS Radyo Bida,Senior Supt. Rolen Balquin, Cotabato City police director,identified the victim as 64-year-old Anastacio Sidik Roxas, municipal administrator of South Upi, Maguindanao,who was also a resident of Purok Maligaya, Barangay Rosary Heights 10, Cotabato CityBalquin saidRoxas was about to alight from his vehicle after parking along a Don Rufino Avenue, just in front of Philippine Airlines ticketing office,when a lone gunman approached and shot him at close range. He was hit in his chest and died while being rushed to the hospital.Balquin said responding policemen from Police Station 1, situated few meters away, recovered an empty shell for cal. 45 pistol at the scene of the crime.Quoting witnesses, Balquin said the gunman who shot Roxas casually walked away from the scene and disappeared.The suspect reportedly wore a green shirt and a black short pant.Investigators are still clueless on the suspect’s identity and his motive for killing Roxas.Balquin said the shooting could have been triggered by personal grudge or work related.(NDBC)
