Gunmen kill soldier
in North Cotabato
PIKIT, North
Cotabato -- Motorcycle-riding gunmen on Saturday shot dead an Army sergeant while
he was driving his motorbike in Barangay Manaulanan, police said.
Manhunt has
been launched against the two suspects who shot in broad daylight Army Sgt. Salilin
Guiapal, a member of the Army’s 7th Infantry Battalion based here. We are
investigating the killing, Chief Inspector Donald Cabigas, Pikit police chief,
said.
Cabigas said
the shooting occurred at about 10 a.m. and the victim was in civilian clothes
when attack. He sustained gunshot wounds
in the head and back and died instantly.
No one has
claimed responsibility for the attack.
The assailants
fled after the killing. No individual or group claimed responsibility for the
