Gunmen shot dead Army Sergeant along Cotabato City's busy street

COTABATO CITY - Unidentified gunmen shot dead an off duty military police officer while he was driving his motorbike near the corner of Sinsuat Avenue and Sousa Street Wednesday morning.Capt. Joann Petinglay, 6th Infantry Division spokesperson, identified the victim as Sgt. Inocentes Ermenio, a member of the 6th ID military police and a resident of Pigcawayan, North Cotabato. He died on the spot.Police investigation showed the victim came from a bank in downtown Cotabato City and was heading for home when two men riding tandem on a motorbike tailed him.Near the corner of Sinsuat Avenue and Sousa Street, one of the two suspects alighted and shot the victim in the head at about 11:45 a.m.Responding policemen recovered empty shells for cal. 45 pistol.The broad daylight shooting came while the Cotabato City peace and order council met recently to discuss and find solution on the rash of shooting incidents in the city.
