Hataman leads ARMM employees in clean up drive

COTABATO CITY (Sept.
3/NDBC) – Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao (ARMM) on Tuesday led all ARMM officials and employees in the region’s
5S Good Housekeeping Program” as it kicks off with a big clean-up day at the
regional compound here.
With no
exemption, all agencies participated with its employees armed with broom, dust
pan, small bolo and anything that helped them pick-up garbage and mess around
the 10-hectare ARMM compound.

It started
after a short program followed by the symbolic call (banging of the agong) by
Governor Hataman held at the entrance of the newly renovated ORG.

Governor
Hataman said he was grateful of having the clean-up program inside the compound
after it has existed for the past 25 years.

”This is a
good start for the transition government of Bangsamoro to be able and capable
government,” he said, referring to the outcome of the 17-year-old peace process
between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

With the themeand
Reform in ARMM Housekeeping is Part of Our Faith,” the activity was
spearheaded by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Office of the Regional
Governor.

The clean-up
day includes the sweeping of the shared spaces in the compound led by the regional
cabinet secretaries and heads of offices cleaning of agencies’ common work
areas such as toilet, conference rooms, stock rooms, passageways, pantry and
parking space and the agencies’ individual work station.

In the
Department of Agriculture, Secretary Makmod D. Mending, Jr. has issued a
Memorandum Order constituting the 5S core team.

The 14-man
team has three sub teams such as training and education team promotion and
recognition team and audit team.

Magdalena
Mendoza, DAP senior vice president, considers the 5S program as a milestone in
the ARMM with the clean-up day as she acknowledges the leadership of Governor
Hataman with higher level of good governance.She said the
5S stands for Japanese words Sieri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu and Shitzuke which
correspond to English and Filipino words that starts with letter S also such as
(sort, suriin), (systematize, sinupin), (sweep, simutin), (standardize,
siguruhin) and (self-discipline, sariling kusa), respectively.

The 5S means
putting everything in its place, putting everything in a straight line and it
is a team effort, Mendoza explained.

At the end of
the activity, the DAP, JICA and the ORG awarded prizes and recognition to the most
improved work area, both for individual work station and common work area to
winners.

or red tag awards were also given the agency with smallest equipment tagged

record found oldest ARMM picture or memorabilia found funniest thing found
inside a cabinet and most number of tagged documents, materials and equipment.

The DAF-ARMM
regional secretary said he was elated all employees, without exemption,
