Helium tank in balloon making explodes in Kidapawan, no one hurt

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A powerful blast rocked Kidapawan City amid threats of bomb attacks following the Davao City bombing.But the blast, which occurred before 8 p.m.,was accidental and not an act of terror, according to Supt. Leo Ajero, Kidapawan City police chief.Speaking to DXND Kidapawan Friday, Ajero said the blast that many believed was an improvised bomb was triggered by an accidental explosion of helium tank in a balloon-making shop along Alim Street this city.Nobody was hurt when the explosion occurred in a balloon making shop owned by Johar Kamad. Ajero quoted Kamad as saying that there could be an error in the mixture of chemicals used in balloon making.Helium gas makes the balloon lighter and flies.Ajero said investigation continues.
