Jail officials sacked over North Cotabato jail attack

KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Five days after the bloody attack by suspected lawless elements on the North
Cotabato District Jail (NCDJ), two ranking officials of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) have been relieved.Senior Supt. Alberto Balauag, BJMP-12 regional director and Supt. Peter John Bongngat, NCDJ officer-in-charge have been sacked from their respective posts.
Senior Inspector Xavier Solda, BJMP spokesman, said Senior Superintendent Joel Superficial replaced Supt. Balauag while Chief
Inspector Jesus Singson took over Bongngat’s post.
Solda said the BJMP action came after the recommendation of North Cotabato Gov. Shirlyn Macasarte-Villanueva to ensure an impartial
investigation of the incident.
