Kapatagan, Lanao Sur councilor gunned down

CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao --A municipal councilor of Kapatagan, Lanao del Sur was shot dead, while three others were wounded in an attack in the town of Balabagan, police reports said.In a report, the Balabagan Municipal Police identified the slain local official as Nassif Palawan Bansil, 31, municipal councilor of Kapatagan, Lanao del Sur.Injured in the attack were Alvin Abdullah Sampiano, 35, former barangay captain of Poblacion, Balabagan and two others who were not immediately identified.Police suspected rido or family feud and the upcoming local elections to be the motive behind the attack.The Balabagan police report showed that the victims were inside the residetial compound offormer Balabagan Municipal Mayor Hadji Amer Sampiano when five persons on board a blue Toyota Tamarraw FX arrived.The gunmen, who appeared to be known to the victims, entered the house, and fired at them and immediately left on board the same vehicle.Pursuit operation is going on with the police in possession of the gunmen's identities.
