Kidapawan gov't extends aid to flood victims

KIDAPAWAN CITY -- The city government here Friday extended emergency assistance to families affected by recent floods that hit the locality.

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista ordered the distribution of relief goods to affected families through the city social welfare office and the city disaster risk reduction and management office.

About 168 families from eight puroks (zones) of low-lying Barangay Poblacion here were affected by the floods that hit the city after an overnight downpour Thursday evening.

“Each family got food packs that contained rice, canned goods, and other food provisions,” the mayor said.

The affected families were from puroks Cherry, Passion Fruit, Golden Coconut, Dalandan, Ponkana, Dalanghita, Macapuno, and Durian.

Evangelista has reiterated his appeal to residents to be always on guard, especially when the city is experiencing moderate to heavy rains. (PNA)
