KIDAPAWAN CITY – The local government of Kidapawan City has released P11.27 million from its Special Education Funds (SEF) to pay at least P300 from the tuition and miscellaneous of all pupils and students studying in public schools. The first release took place on Wednesday and would continue until August 6, according to City Mayor Joseph Evangelista, who also chairs the Local School Board.Evangelista said the biggest recipient of the subsidy is the Kidapawan City National High School (KCNHS) with more than 8,000 students and next is the Kidapawan City Pilot Elementary School (KCPES) with more than 5,000 students. The city LGU allots P300 to each student as payment for the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) collections and other school expenses. With P11.27 million, some 38,000 students in government schools benefit from the program, according to Evangelista. The mayor said that with the release of the subsidy, he wanted a ‘no collection’ in all public schools in the city, a program he started in 2014.On Wednesday, the mayor has personally turned over the checks to school heads in a simple ceremony held inside their institutions, which was witnessed by parents and students.
