Koronadal engineering office closes bridge
KORONADAL
CITY – The Koronadal City engineering office has shut down to motorists and
vehicles a vital bridge here due to it deteriorating condition following flash
floods that hit the city last week.
A
big hole in the middle span of Jose Abad Santos bridge has weakened the bridge
and may collapse anytime, according to Koroandal City Engr. Ruel Tianchon.
Tianchon
said the bridge is dilapidated and may give way motorists continue to pass through
it.
He
said the bridge is unfit for heavy vehicles and its condition has been reported
to the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Aside
from Jose Abad Santos Bridge, there are other bridges that have been weakened
by constant rain. These bridges are
found in Maranon Village, a bridge at the back of Notre Dame of Marbel
University, Purok Parish Center bridges along Rizal Street and Roxas Street, all
in Barangay Zone III.
Clogged
debris under the bridges have contributed in weakening the foundation of the
infrastructure thus villagers and city engineering workers join hands in
removing the debris, especially during heavy down pour.
