Lanao Norte town mayor killed in Iligan City ambush
ILIGAN CITY -- Police believed the motive in the murder here of a town mayor from Lanao del Norte Thursday night was politically motivated.Pantar Lanao del Norte Mayor Mohammad Exchan Gabriel Limbona was killed in an ambush along a highway in Sitio Paitan, Barangay Dalipuga, Iligan City, according to Supt. Roy Ga, city police director.Roy said was driving his brand new black Ford Everest along with his wife Geneva, daughter and two police escorts when ambushed at about 9:45 p.m.His family and escorts escaped unscathed.The 52-year-old Limbona sustained multiple gunshot wounds and rushed by his escorts to a hospital where he was declared dead about 30 minutes later.
