Magnitude 6.7 quake hits Surigao Phivolcs recorded 27 aftershocks
COTABATO CITY- Twenty seven aftershocks followed a Magnitude 6.7 quake that hit Surigao City in Surigao del Norte on Friday night, the state volcanology office reported Saturday morning.The provincial disaster office reported four fatalities and at least 70 were injured.Damages to properties were reported the morning after following the 10:30 p.m. quake with its epicenter traced by Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology about 14 kilometers west of Surigao City.In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was tectonic in origin and located about 11 kilometers deep.Aftershocks were reported in Dinagat islands, Burgos and Libjo in Surigao del Norte and San Jose in Dinagat and parts of Southern Leyte.Phivolcs recorded the latest aftershock at 7:45 a.m. in Dinagat Island.
