Maguindanao cop survives grenade attack
COTABATO CITY --- An off-duty policeman was injured in a grenade blast that ripped through a residential area here on Tuesday night.
Investigators said one of two men in police uniforms hurled a grenade at the house of PO2 Samanudin Bidsuk Yusoph and escaped using a motorcycle.
Yusoph, who belong to the municipal police office in Datu Anggal town in Maguindanao, was slightly injured in the explosion. Supt. Romeo Galgo,Jr., spokesman of the Police Regional Office-12, told reporters late Tuesday that there are strong indications that the target of the bombing was the 41-year-old Yusoph.
Galgo said local police probers are still trying to establish the exact identities of the culprits wearing police uniforms and their motive for setting off a fragmentation grenade in the yard of Yusoph in Barangay Rosary Heights 3 here.
The incident caused panic among neighbors of Yusoph, who is an ethnic Maguindanaon.
