GEN. SANTOS CITY -- With the help of community residents, police authorities dug out Wednesday a
cadaver of a male foreign national buried inside an abandoned
residential compound of his murderer Lito Arela Simudong, 45, resident of Blk.
5 MC Vill., Brgy Fatima, General Santos City.Chief Inspector Aldrin Gonzales, PRO-12 spokesperson, said Simudong was arrested on Tuesday afternoon of March 13, 2018
for Robbery with Intimidation, illegal firearms and illegal drugs.

Only during his detention at Police Station 7 when Simudong
conscientiously revealed his killing of Frank Cruz a 73 year old foreign
national from Guam and a Regional Sales Coordinator of American and Family Life Assurance Company (AFLAC) who temporarily
resided at Congson Boarding house in Bula, General Santos City.

The decomposing body of Cruz when exhumed was seen with his foot
firmly tied-up with nylon rope and head wrapped with packing tape and emitted
an unpleasant odor.

Simudong, during follow up investigation and interview, said
that he was not alone when committing the crime of murder implicating two
others namely Hiwen Buntuyan Borja alias Weweng and Hiwen’s daughter Herliemhe
Borja.

Killing Cruz and getting all personal properties as well as
significant valuables of the victim was for their personal gain said Simudong.

At the wee hours of February 26, 2018, said three suspects
materialized their planned killing of the victim.

Meanwhile, Senior Insp. Fernando T Manuel Jr, the Chief of Police
of Station 7, said that after a thorough investigation conducted, they found out
that there were minors involved in the crime but were turned-over to their
parents as per directive from the Department of Social Welfare Development
(DSWD)

The suspects are now in the custody of PS 7.

Chief Supt Marcelo C Morales, PRPO-12 regional director, in a statement said that it is the
PNP duty to make Gensan safe for all who live, visit, invest and do business. Also,
illegal drug can be closely related as one of the motives since authorities
recovered illegal drugs from the possession of Simudong, and as a matter of fact
the suspects admitted the commission of crime was for their personal gain. (PO1 Allan Navarro-RPIO 12 PNCO).
