Marcos submits own version of BBL
MANILA (PNA) – Senator Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. on Monday filed his committee report on the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), drawing signatures from majority members of the committees on local government and peace and unification.Marcos refused to name the signatories but claimed at least 17 senators have already affixed their signatures to his report on the Malacanang-backed bill.Registered as Senate Bill No. 2408, the committee report on the BBL will be sponsored on the floor by Marcos on Wednesday. He said 80 percent of the provisions of the BBL has been touched while 20 percent were not.””It does not mean that all the 80 percent have been removed. These are the provisions that either have been amended with minor amendments,” Marcos explained.Marcos also said his committee has adopted a new short title, which is Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR) for the proposed law.The BBL is a codification of the two peace agreements – Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB) and the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB) signed between the Philippines government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
