New BARMM transportation minister warns corrupt agency execs, staff
COTABATO CITY – The minister of transportation and communication in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on Friday warned his subordinates that corruption has no place in the region’s telecommunication and transportation regional ministry.
After he took his oath of office to BARMM chief Minister Murad Ebrahim, Minister Dickson Hermoso warned corrupt workers in government that he will not tolerate it.
He first listened to issues and concerns of workers and officials of Ministry of Transportation and Communication (MOTC-BARMM) before issuing his marching orders.
MOTC-BARMM has control and supervision over BARRM’s Land Transportation Office (LTO-BARMM), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-BARMM), Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB-BARMM), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP-BARMM) and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA-BARMM).
Minister hermoso said it was the first management committee meeting that will help propel the whole of MOTC in achieving its goal to cleanse the whole system and be productive way forward.
“I have no tolerance on corruption,” Minister Hermoso said. “Everyone will be checked for accountability. I will use every power vested in me as an appointed minister to curb all irregularities in this office.”
Hermoso said “every malpractice has to stop under my watch.”
Hermoso pointed out the direction of each agency under MOTC towards a productive performance by outlining a strategic plan.
Each of the five agencies under MOTC has to comply with Minister Hermoso’s directive to come up with a comprehensive evaluation of their on-going programs, number of personnel, collection and remittances, provincial structural offices and logistics.
Minister Hermoso is also set to schedule an inter-agency ocular visits to personally assess the current status of each agency operation in all of the 5 provinces in the BARMM.
BARMM is comprised of the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi and the cities of Cotabato, Marawi and Lamitan.
