North Cotabato athletics meet culminates today
KIDAPAWAN CITY – More than 1,000 athletes from all
over the province of North Cotabato converge here over the weekend as the
Cotabato Private Schools Athletic Association COPRISAA compete in the 42nd
North Cotabato Provincial Athletic Association Meet (CPAAM).
The sports events with the theme Sportsand Breaking
Borders, Building Peace,” the event held at North Cotabato Provincial Capitol
Sports Complex in Barangay Amas culminates today.
Participating in the event were public school
students from elementary and high school divided in the following groupingand Zone
1 (Congressional District 1) composed of Pigcawayan, Libungan, Alamada,
Midsayap, Aleosan and Pikit Zone 2 (Congressional District 2) composed of
Makilala, Pres. Roxas, arakan, Magpet and Antipas Zone 3 (Congressional
District 3) composed of Tulunan, Matalam, Carmen, M’lang, Kabacan and Banisilan
and Zone 4 composed of COPRISAA.
Athletes competed in seven major sports discipline that
included baseball, basketball, football, futsal, sepak takraw, softball and
volleyball as well as socio-cultural contests.
Gov. Emmylou Lala” Taliño-Mendoza, speaking during
the opening ceremonies stressed the significance of the provincial meet as a
sports and physical fitness activity being an integral part of the Basic
Education Curriculum.
With our great aspiration to make our youth even
more active and sound and instill in them the value of sportsmanship and
camaraderie, together we make this event more meaningful,” Mendoza said.
