North Cotabato lady education supervisor, hubby killed in ambush
COTABATO CITY (Sept. 1/NDBC) – Two men riding tandem
on a motorbike shot dead a lady education district supervisor and her husband
along the national highway in Pikit, North Cotabato Sunday, police said today.
Inspector Mautin Pangandigan, Pikit police chief,
said Violeta Flores Almazan, education supervisor of Midsayap South district,
62 and her husband Gervacio Almazan, 63, a retired government employee, were on
a motorbike when gunmen riding tandem on separate motorbike fired at them at 5
p.m. in Barangay Dalengawen, Pikit.
They were heading to Midsayap from Poblacion Magpet
where they both reside when the ambush happened.
Almazan who was driving the motorbike died on the
spot while passers-by rushed the school official to the hospital but was
declared dead on arrival.
Pangandingan said police remained clueless as to the
motive of the ambush but hinted it could be personal grudge or work related.(NDBC)
