North Cotabato lawmakerand Literacy great weapon in achieving dev't
KABACAN, North Cotabato -A total of 200 hundred Literacy and Numeracy and Kuntaw-Silat students received certificates of Completion during the Literacy and Numeracy and Kuntaw-Silat Closing Program held last week at the Kabacan Municipal Gym.
The six months of learning the art of self- defense and self discipline (Kuntaw students) and basic of reading and writing (Literacy and numeracy learners) was one of the projects of Moro People’s CORE in achieving its mission and vision (self-determination and self-governance).
More than the certificates are the teachings and sharing on several issues and concerns affecting community development and empowerment these students have experienced together with the staff and volunteers of Moro People’s CORE.
Guest speaker North Cotabato ProvincialBoard Member Mohammad Kelie” Antao emphasized the importanceof learning as one of the tasks ordered to mankind by our Creator. Literacy is a great weapon in achieving development not only with one’s self but to his community, Antao told the graduates.Several public officials were also present and gave messages to the informal school finishers.Among them were BM Ivy Dalumpines-Ballitoc, Mayor Herlo Guzman Jr. and other key officials of the Local Government Unit of Kabacan and Barangay officials.
Moro People’s CORE Executive Director Zaynab Ampatuan expressed her gratitude to the individuals behind the successful six-month schooling of less fortunate villagers of Kabacan's interior barnagays.She also lauded the Moro People’s CORE benefactors, the Board of Trustees, staff and volunteers who worked very hard towards the realization of its goals.Ampatuan said with the rising enthusiasm among the locals, Moro People's CORE has become more determined to expand its education program with the conviction of helping people who have long desire for education but do not have the opportunity to achieve it.She hope more groups and individuals would share their talents and resources to help educate and empower grassroots and indigents in far flung communities in Kabacan and nearby municipalities.
