PDEA-ARMM nabbed 3 MILF fighters, 2 pals during anti-drug ops
COTABATO CITY – After covert operations and case build-up, agents of
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao (ARMM), arrested Thursday afternoon five persons, including three
members of a legitimate Moro rebel group.
PDEA operatives,
backed by police and Army, also seized an M-16 Armalite rifle and two .45 cal.
pistol and Php170,000 worth of illegal drugs from the suspects who, PDEA said,
belonged to a drug syndicate operating in the city and nearby areas.
Director
Juvenal Azurin of PDEA-ARMM said the 5:30 p.m. in Barangay Rosary Heights 10, Cotabato
City were Odin Kulilong, 29, student Mohammad Kadir Amir, 27 and Norodin Oto
Usman, 31, a fish vendor, all residents of Cotabato City and MILF members based
on identification cards taken from them.
Also arrested
were Ansanodin Basit Ali, 29 of Tapodok, Zamboanga del Sur and Nasser Wahab
Bagundang, 29, fish vendor of Cotabato City.
Someone
tipped us about big time drug peddling in Barangay Rosary Heights 10, it was
confirmed by our intelligence operation, Azurin said.
Two PDEA agents
posed as buyer and dealt with two of the suspects for P70,000 worth of 25 grams
of shabu.
As soon as the
transaction was completed, PDEA operatives, backed by city police and Joint Task
Force Kutawato operatives arrested the suspects.
The suspects,
now detained at PDEA-ARMM custodial facility are facing violation of Republic
Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
