Peace Seminar for college students held in Kathmandu

The speakers and participants of NGO Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) sponsored peace seminar.
On 11th of August, a peace seminar titled “Voice of Youth: Youth, be Ambitious for Peace” was delivered to the students at Liberty College affiliated to Pokhara University in Kathmandu, Nepal by Mr. Laxman Datt Pant, Chairperson of Media Action Nepal.
The seminar was organized by international peace NGO Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) in cooperation with Liberty College and Media Action Nepal.
The Voice of Youth is part of the Legislate Peace Campaign from HWPL, which advocates the establishment of an international law for peace as a global norm and has received around 1.5 million participants as supporters from 176 nations so far.
The campaign also aims to nurture the youth to become involved in peacebuilding efforts through educating the value of dignity, equality, social justice, and human rights.
Pant who delivered the peace lecture emphasized on the role of youth for the realization of peace today and said, “It is very important to realize the value of peace as a youth living today. I hope the youth to be ambitious for peace when a good motivation drives them, they can be a part of this valuable works for achieving peace.”
At the end of the seminar, the students wrote the peace letters to the honorable Prime Minister, Kha dga Prasad Sharma Oli, as a practical action for the realization of peace with hope to receive a positive reply.
Writing a peace letter to head of each state to call supports for the adoption of the international law for peace is one of the Legislate Peace Campaigns to submit ‘Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War’ (DPCW), the international law for peace enacted by HWPL International Law Peace Committee, to the United Nations to make it a legally binding document.
A student of the Liberty College who attended the seminar said: “I really liked the seminar today. I think the youth carry lots of energy so there are so many things that the youth of the world can do together for peace. After the seminar, I would like to know little more about the responsibility of the youth, and what we can do for peace. Today I wrote a peace letter to our prime minister, I hope the letter I wrote can contribute to the realization of world peace.”
Pravek Joshi, Program Director of Liberty College delivered “Through today’s seminar we have got a good knowledge about what is happening in the world. The seminar today was really productive. I think it is important to understand the concept of peace deeply with our mind and soul and change it to positive action. When we instill some knowledge and exercise for peace then we can make a better future. In that point of view, HWPL is certainly contributing to our society by interacting with civil society. It seems a small thing right now but I think it will certainly make a big difference in the world.”
The next peace seminar “Voice of Peace” is expected to be held at Tribhuhvan University and Kadanbari Memorial College in September and October.
