PNP Sulu arrest most wanted man, seize high powered guns

PENDATUN, Maguindanao – Police and military authorities on Wednesday arrested five
persons wanted for murders and illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
But Chief Supt.
Reuben Sindac, police director for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao
(ARMM) said the suspects resisted arrest and engaged law enforcers in a
shootout Wednesday dawn.
Joint police
law enforcers were to serve warrants of arrest and conducted anti-drug
operation in Sulu but the subject persons, identified as Saudi Kahal Hamja, Adzmar
Omar, Juli Sahibul and Ayub Mangkabong facing arson charges, resisted and fired
at approaching lawmen in the town of Omar, Sulu.
The operation
led to the arrest of Hamja and four others, Sindac said. One of his followers was killed and a
civilian was hit by stray bullets.
The suspects
are high value targets, he added.
Seized from
the suspects were three sachets shabu, seven units M16 Armalite Rifles,
including two M 2O3 rifles, five M14 rifles, one cal. 22 pistol, three carbine
rifles one M79 launchers one AK 47 rifle, a cal. 50 machine gun and one 60 mm
mortar launcher.
Suspects are
now detained at Sulu police provincial detention cell under close watch by
police public safety battalion.
