Priest died, another hurt in separate road crashes in E. Samar
MANILA— A Catholic priest died and another was injured today in separate road accidents in the southern part of Eastern Samar province amid inclement weather.Fr. Moses Campo, parish priest of Guiuan town, died on the spot on suspicion of hit-and-run after the vehicle he was driving was rammed by a truck at around 3:30pm along Brgy. Naparaan in Salcedo town.Police are still in the process of officially identifying the truck driver.Meanwhile, in separate accident few minutes earlier, Campo’s assistant priest was rushed to a hospital in Tacloban City after he crashed his car into a light pole along Brgy. Anuron in Mercedes town.Motorists pulled Fr. Edmel Raagas from his blazing car where he sustained burns in some parts of his body.Both priests were on their way back to Guiuan after attending their clergy meeting and recollection in the province’s capital city of Borongan, roughly 111 kilometers north of Guiuan.Landslides and flooding in some towns have been already reported in some areas as heavy rains caused by Tropical Storm Basyang have been pouring without letup since Monday over the province.CBCPNews
