Roadside bomb injured 6, damage power post in North Cotabato

ALEOSAN, North Cotabato -- Six persons were wounded when a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off in national highway of Aleosan, North Cotabato.

Lt. Col. Edgar Delos Reyes, commander of 34th Infantry Battalion, confirmed a roadside explosion took place in Sitio Dos, Barangay Pagangan national highway around 10:15 in the evening.
A lamp post of Cotelco (Cotabato Electric Cooperative) was damaged from the impact of the explosion, our team of soldiers and EOD experts are inspecting the area now, Delos Reyes said.
The Provincial Government of North Cotabato said shrapnels also hit six persons on boarda 10-wheeler truck that happened to pass by when the explosion occurred.Jessie Enid of Legal and Heath Affairs of the provincial office identified the wounded victims as Amerol Musa Tantos, Hanep Alipa Ayon,Yahya Kasan, Pahmi Daya Diamla, Johary Amerol and Salman Tahir.The hauler truck (license plate AAJ–1034), driven by Gamay Jamal, 37, was loaded with sacks of charcoal from Malabang, Lanao del Sur.Senior Inspector Edwin Abantes, Aleosan town police chief, said the injured were rushed to various hospitals in Midsayap and Cotabato Cit.The vehicle's windshield was shattered while its tires went off.Last night's blast was about 20 kilometers from Midsayap, also in North Cotabato where a grenade attack injured at least 17 persons. No connections between the two incident.
