Senior NDU student wins ARMM regional engineering quiz
COTABATO CITY --- A fourth year Moro engineering student excelled in the September 9 regional quiz here of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), event organizers said Monday.The contest champion, Abdulbady Mandugay, is a consistent honor student of the Notre Dame University, the largest Catholic school in central Mindanao.Mandugay will represent ARMM’s PICE chapter to the 36thNational Civil Engineering Students Quiz (NCESQ) in Metro Manila before yearend.The regional quiz last Saturday in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, a prelude to the NCESQ, was facilitated by the office of ARMM’s public works secretary, Don Loong, and Engineer Crisanto Saavedra of the PICE Maguindanao chapterLoong, also a civil engineer, is the PICE’s regional coordinator for the autonomous region, which covers Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur, both in mainland Mindanao, and the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.A fourth-year student from the Cotabato City State Polytechnic College, Prince Abdul Fattah Dumarpa, was first runner up in the quiz while a schoolmate of Mandugay, Elijah Excel Dayrit, won as second runner up.Regional PICE officials are expecting a good performance by Mandugay in the national level quiz in November.Nine students, among them representatives of the Mindanao State University in Marawi City, participated in the quiz at the office here of the public works department of the autonomous region.The quiz, administered by Engineer Jose Rabago, Jr., focused on mathematics, energy, transportation and environmental engineering, hydraulics and geotechnical engineering and design and construction engineering subjects.
