SITG SouthSeas files charges vs. mall bombing suspsects

GEN. SANTOS CITY -- The
Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) SOUTHSEAS has filed charges against
suspects Salipudin Lauban Pasandalan (arrested) a
resident of Upper Capiton Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao and Alias Saed Nur
Kasim (at large) resident of Dalican, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao in
connection with the December 31 (IED) blast in front of Southseas Mall in
Cotabato City that killed two (2) persons and wounded several others.

Police
Chief Superintendent Eliseo Tam Rasco, Regional Director of PRO 12 said that SITG
SOUTHSEAS has filed charges on Wednesday afternoon, January 9, 2019 at around
4:35 against said suspects before the Office of Prosecutor Anwar U. Masacal of
Cotabato City Prosecution Office, Almonte Street, Cotabato city for two (2)
counts of Murder and thirty-four (34) counts of Frustrated Murder docketed
under no. XII-02-INQ-2019-A-03756.

Authorities
said that the suspects planted an IED at about 1:49 in the afternoon of
December 31, 2018 in front of Southseas Mall of said city that exploded causing
the death of two (2) victims and wounding of thirty-four (34) others. (Relatives of Pasandalan voluntarily turned him over to police to clear his name hours after his image went around the social media - Editor)

Meanwhile,
the bombing incident happened is a great challenge to the sustaining peace and
order situation in Region 12 wherein PCSupt Rasco has immediately called for a counter
measure to address the problem and prevent it from recurrence.

We
conducted meeting with other law enforcement agencies, local executives, and stakeholders
to prevent or once and for all stop this incident from happening again in the
future, Rasco.

We need the community to help us detect any
activity that poses a threat to our security. We need everybody to report to
our law enforcers any suspicious looking person and any bags or backpacks or
anything left unattended, he said.

In
this light, we strive to be aligned and well-coordinated in our thrust in the
area of peace and security so that our efforts become more efficient and
effective, he added.

Further
he said that this is a way to mitigate or to stop any threats posed by
terrorism to secure lives, places and streets where people dwell and prevent
the loss of lives and to secure SOCCSKSARGEN against attack in the future.
